Rhode Island State Grange

The Woman Activities (Family) Department is designed to set up activities, contests, and community service ideas that get people involved, not only with the Grange, but with their local communities and organizations as well, and make a difference  to those in need.  This can help bring families into focus and show what the Grange can accomplish through our programs.

Our Department Supports and with our membership accomplishes the following:

--- RI Food Bank and local community food banks, soup kitchens, Churches and any other organization that feed the Hungry.

--- The Ronald McDonald House:  by collecting Pull Tabs, monetary donations, and house hold needs.

--- Foster Parents Project:  Collecting New Items for Newborns to 18 years of age and Monetary Donations for the Crib Fund

--- Demonstration Dolls and Johnny’s; these dolls are used to show a child the procedures or treatment that they may need; these dolls are donated to area Hospital and Emergency Responders state wide.

--- Head Warmers, Booties, and Baby Afghans:  Every baby born gets a Head warmer, and the Booties and Afghans goes home with those that don’t have one at this time. These Items are donated to area Hospitals         throughout the state.

--- Lap Robes; Nursing Homes in local communities are always looking for these.

--- Hats and Mittens:  Handmade or bought for needy children and adults, distributed to local charities throughout the state.

--- Help the Animals: The shelters and Pounds have a wish list from newspapers to blankets, food and coupons, toys etc. Whatever you need for your pet they can use.

--- We also support the New England Grange Building at the Eastern States Exposition by donating Handmade and new Items to sell in their Country Store.  At the Big E there is also a regional judging of all the first Place Needlework Items that are submitted from all the New England States.
